Welcome to the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg,  Mega port and the second largest city in Germany. There is a lot to see and the best way to get orientated is from the Heinrich-Hertz-Turm -the television tower- with commanding views across the city,  much of the harbour,  the Hbf and beyond. There is a complex public transport system to master: the unusual third rail S-Bahn, the metro (the Hamburger Hochbahn) and the delightful AKN network north of the city. Within the city we visit: the harbour - the second largest container port in Europe - the Cap San Diego Museum ship and, especially for rail enthusiast, the art nouveau Dammtor station and  Miniatur-Wunderland- Europe's most visited model railway with 900,000 visitors a year! Our long day out is to another maritime jewel the Hanseatic City of Lübeck -  where the marzipan comes from - and to Lüneburg!  As usual we will be suggesting places to stay, to eat and to relax when things get too hectic- as they they can in a city of nearly two million!    DVD Filmed in High Definition.
