BP1210 The Bernina railway gained a special aura from its origins as a private enterprise and its raw but enchanting mountain setting. Built on a budget, most of the line between Sankt Moritz and Tirano is exposed, which landed the highest alpine crossing by rail many fans as well as a continuing battle against foul weather.
