We leave the Republic’s second city, pass the freight yard and start a fascinating run north and west. While the line has been rebuilt, including many of the former restrictive tunnels along the way, it’s not a high speed line. The route follows the natural features through the forests and along the rivers - a lovely landscape that should be on any tourist itinerary. It’s along this section that the tilt technology of the Pendolino comes into its own – 100kph curves are eased through at 120 – the 8 degrees of artificial cant seems much more! The last section of this run is over the combined corridors 1&2 to the Republic’s third city, and the main west to east line- Prague to Ostrava and Poland.
