We leave the Republic?s second city, pass the freight yard and start a fascinating run north and west. While the line has been rebuilt, including many of the former restrictive tunnels along the way, it?s not a high speed line. The route follows the natural features through the forests and along the rivers - a lovely landscape that should be on any tourist itinerary. It?s along this section that the tilt technology of the Pendolino comes into its own ? 100kph curves are eased through at 120 ? the 8 degrees of artificial cant seems much more!
