TTR79 Swiss cabride+ Sargans to Zürich HB. It's a lovely day for a train ride alongside the north Swiss Lakes of Walensee and Zürichsee Our train is IC 572- the 1109 from Chur, where metre gauge connections were made to the fashionable resort of St Moritz, to Zürich and Basel. We join at Sargans with class 460 leading. We know the 460 well, we have filmed from the type before- eight hours through the Norwegian mountains! Incredibly we will pass more trains in this 1hr and 10 minutes than we crossed all the way to Bergen! The huge single windscreen of our locomotive makes our cameraman's life very easy. On time we start our run north and west. There is a lot packed into this run. In addition to all the Swiss trains you would expect, we pass a dozen freight facilities all working hard to supply wagons to the SBB Cargo wagonload network. While the route is a delight there are several quite long NBS tunnel sections, these we edit down as we don't want to keep you in the dark too long! Filmed in July 2006 in lovely early summer weather with the sun behind us. RT55 mins Narrated
