JT3 covers three very busy sections of the Rhine railway: Köln Süd which is on the left bank near the point where the lines from Aachen and The Ruhr converge, but before the Südbrücke to Gremberg, making this one of the best areas to watch freight trains in Europe. We see long distance freights from the ports arrive and depart, plus numerous trip freights- many from the HGK. Remagen is also on the left bank - south of Bonn and north of Koblenz, and a junction station for a diesel line to Ahrbrück. In addition to lots of freight this is a hunting ground for loco-hauled IC trains - now an endangered species! Neuwied is on the right bank of the river - traditionally the side associated with wagonload freight and heavy block trains. Just south of the station there is a Rhine crossing- the Urmitz Rheinbrücke that guides freight traffic to France along the Moselstrecke. Our final section is from Obertraubling near Regensburg on the mainline to Passau. RT 60 mins
