TTR72 ÖBB EC  Cabride+ part 1 Vienna to St.Pölten  At 7.00am we climb aboard the ÖBB Taurus locomotive - she spent the night receiving some TLC at the nearby Wien West depot and is in fine shape for the journey ahead of her.  This will be along the Westbahn - the ÖBB's busiest corridor and arguably the most important east/west freight route in Europe. Along the line we have time to discuss the new section of the Westbahn and what it will mean for the railways in Austria and beyond.  But there is plenty to see today including a host of overnight trains, thanks to our early start and visiting locomotives from Germany. The air is cool and dry and the sun has risen, casting a shadow of the locomotive ahead of us.  We begin one of the great railway journies of the world. Narrated  RT 60 mins
