Swiss railways from the air part 4 Aarau to Biel.
Today we follow the Zürich – Genève mainline between Rupperswil and Biel along the southern flanks of the Jura mountain range. Along the way we pass through the incredibly busy Olten station where our east to west line is crossed by the north to south line - Basel to Bern. We then pass through Solothurn on our way to Biel.
Of special interest: the town of Aarau, where the HUPAC intermodal hub lies adjacent to the mainline, the Eppenberg rail-bypass, the Postal terminal at Härkingen, the MIGROS central warehouse at Egerkingen and their warehouse for chilled and frozen goods at Suhr, the Kimberly Clarke paper mill at Oensingen and the Aare Seeland metre-gauge railway that runs between Solothurn, Niederbipp and Langenthal.
